Oh, I agree with that. Guild Wars is far too forgettable in the current games market, which means the only kind of fan Guild Wars will keep is the hardcore player - while the casual players are all attracted to new stuff.

Except ANet already pissed all of those off in favor of the common denominator. Ho!

QFT.

I mean it is impossible for Anet not to have anything at all they can give the community at this point. And I've seen games that have been cancelled show more in a year.

ArenaNet is not fighting against Blizzard Activision, because they can't "win". It's good business acumen to know where your place is and stay there rather than be crushed by the mamoth competitors. They'll do the stuff they're good at, which means releasing a "good" (we'll be the judge of that, of course) game according to the plan they have. I'm not surprised at the fact that there's no big news, I know they're working on it (see the PAX video, where there's a lot of "we can't talk about it...yet") and I know that they're doing everything they can, knowing that they can't play in the same field as Blizzard Activision, with its millions of dollars of monthly income all over the planet.

Like everyone, I'm eager to know more. But I'm not impatient, because, like the way I play GW1, I'll take things as they come, at a slow pace. I understand that people love(d) GW so much that they want information, to the point of voicing their concerns and doubts in this thread, or that people judge what ArenaNet is doing by Blizzard Activision's standards.

I have to agree Im getting suspicious about the entire GW2 project. They can at least give a screenshot or a short trailer just to confirmed that they are actually working on it. The rumors the game has been cancelled are getting louder every day. It would be real easy to put an end to them if Anet really intended to do so.

Is there ANY date announced for the release of the first of three pocket books, or are those as much in the dark as GW2 itself?

there are only two possibilities as to why there's absolutely no concrete info on gw2 (concrete as in a video, or a screenshot): it's cancelled, or at least put on hold, or it's so spectacularly awesome that an early screenshot will make our heads asplode and tip off their competitors to work on similar stuff. personally, i'll go with option 1.

What Avarre said. At first I was kind of intolerant of all the whiners who constantly wanted GW2 updates, now I'm beginning to think GW2 is going to wind up being another bit of Vaporware.

Things I've never actually seen work, or reviewed by somebody trustworthy and now suspect do not exist in their promised form and never did:

Phantom
Duke Nukem Forever
Super Nintendo CD-ROM
Starcraft: Ghost
Tesla Roadster
Guild Wars 2

Did it ever occur to you guys that maybe, just maybe they don't want companies (coughBlizzardcough) to copy some of their new ideas before they can show them off fully?
